Hello,

I have got two Samsung 226BW plugged into an ATI 3870 graphics card. One of my Samsungs is connected via DVI and the second is RGB, with a converter as this one goes into a KVM.

The monitor connected via DVI shows a resolution via 1680x1050 but the one via RGB can display 1600x1200 but I get a message on the screen, but the next position down is 1440x900.

I have got both the Samsung analogue and digital drivers installed for the Samsung monitors and am running the latest ATI drivers. Primary OS is Vista 64, also am unable to get above 1440x900 on Mac OSX 10.4 running on the RGB Samsung monitor.

KVM supports resolutions up to 2048x1536.

Does anybody know if it is a limitation with the samsungs that they can't output the same via RGB or how I can get the option to have the second monitor operating at 1680x1050??

Many thanks

Well, I've got a 226bw and run two systems from it.

I use the source button to switch between RGB and and Digital.

I have noticed that the RGB connection is limited in resolution, but have always just assumed it was the cheap video card in the second system. If both of your monitors handle the 1680 on digital fine, then yes I draw the same conclusion as you.

1440x900 is a 16:10 if I'm not mistaken. So it's not an issue getting the correct aspect ratio, but rather the full resolution.

Many thanks for this.

It does very much seem the 226BW has a limited resolution on RGB, I notice that on 1440x900 the output looks fuzzy don't know if that is becuase the output is RGB or the lower resolution.

Anyway to get both my screens to output the same resolution I upgraded my KVM to a new DVI model, so both screens are now on DVI and I'm happy 😀
