22nm required for PCI-E 3.0?

I haven't been keeping up with things for a while. I want to get a motherboard with pci-e 3.0 but I read that for pci-e 3.0 to work you need a 22nm processor. Would my 3.0 port still work if I keep my current processor that has 32nm?

only 775 CPU's don't have PCI 3.0, everything above 775 CPU socket it has 3.0

what type of CPU do you have? and how much are you willing to spend on a board?

Intel CPUs are 32nm Sandy Bridge and 22nm Ivy Bridge.
Sandy Bridge doesn't use PCI-e 3.0. You need Ivy Bridge CPU.

Most likely you are talking about sandy bridge and ivy bridge but you can still use any modern gpu in the mobo with no performance decrease so it's no big deal if it's 3.0.
