24" 2560x1440

Does anyone know of any upcoming +- 24" monitors with a resolution of 2560x1600?
If LG managed to put a resolution of 1080p in a 4 inch screen, I'm sure this is possible? There are only 27" models with this resolution at the moment...
Anyone else waiting for these?

I don't find any indication of such a monitor in the works. Why do you want such a high resolution at that size instead of 27 or 30 inches?

Because I sit close to my PC screen and I prefer a small screen. Currently have a 21.5" 1080p, want higher resolution but not too much larger screen size 😛
And if the screen is smaller, the image only gets better right? (with the same resolution)

Decreasing the screen size at the same resolution gives more pixels per inch. I think it's subjective as to whether that makes the image better. a 21.5 inch 1080p screen has about the same pixels per inch as a 30 inch 2560x1600 screen, and a 27 inch 2560x1440 actually has more pixels per inch than that.

I've got a 27 inch 1920x1080 monitor that's about 20 inches from the front edge of my desk, and it seems okay to me, so 30 inches wouldn't be too close, and with a 27 inch 2560x1440 monitor it might seem too far, and a 24 inch monitor at that resolution, if one existed, would be even worse. If you really want to go crazy with a high number of pixels per inch, there were a few monitors made that are 22 inches diagonal and 3840x2400, such as the IBM T221, but they're out of production, so they can be expensive or from unrated retailers. Also, it looks like the IBM T221 had some specialized connectors that require adapters from dual-link DVI.

Well, another problem of the current 27" 2560x1440 are the ridiculous price, in my opinion. Why is the price so much higher than a 27" 1080p monitor? It certainly does not cost that much more for the HD+ panels.

I agree with you about the price, but I think that's because they're IPS panels, whereas most 27 inch 1080p monitors are TN panels, so producing the panels probably does cost quite a bit more. There is the Yamakasi Catleap for less than most 1440p monitors, but without a manufacturer website, it seems like a gamble to me.

I dont think they even come with any warranty, which may end up really badly. You think its worth the risk?

I doubt it, that's why I call it a gamble. Other people apparently buy it anyway. The link in the thread specifically about it allows you to add a 3-year warranty for $49.99, but who's going to honor the warranty? Even if it weren't for that, there are two additional reasons I wouldn't buy one for myself: 1. I have an ATI 5770 video card, which is listed as incompatible with it; 2. I want a monitor or TV with extra inputs (hdmi, component, composite) so I can connect my video game consoles, and the Yamkasi Catleap doesn't have those.

Hmmmm and this is why I am torn between what choice to make. The other reason for 24" is, I think, it will be cheaper than 27"

I second the OP's desire for a high DPI 24" display. Apple's retina display laptops and ipads look gorgeous. High pixel density makes a significant difference in text and graphics quality. Plus, imagine a world in which AA is not needed in games!
