This is my current configuration
Processor - Intel i3-8100 3.60GHz
RAM - 8GB GSkill Ripjaws DDR4 2400MHz
Graphics Card - Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4GB GDDR5
Motherboard - MSI B360M PRO-VD

Currently I have enough money to upgrade my RAM. I have 8GB right now so I was thinking of buying another stick of 16GB but then now I am wondering that would it be stupid to have 24 GB RAM in my system? I mean, is it worth it? I will surely upgrade my board, CPU and GPU in about 1-1.5 years time. But, right now what should I do? Buy a 8GB stick or a 16GB stick instead? And yeah I will be playing the upcoming game titles of course and also in the future

Solution
Ram is sold in kits for a reason.
A motherboard must manage all the ram using the same specs of voltage, cas and speed.
The internal workings are designed for the capacity of the kit.
Ram from the same vendor and part number can be made up of differing manufacturing components over time.
Some motherboards, can be very sensitive to this.
If a second 16gb stick plays nice, you will have 24gb, 16 of which will be in dual channel mode, and the remainder 8gb in single channel mode.
That is good, more capacity is better.
But,
What is your plan "B" if the new stick does not work?
I suggest instead that you buy a 2 x 8gb matched kit of 2666 speed.
That is the max your motherboard supports.
Such ram will be fine for a future intel upgrade...

Keep the old 8gb as a spare or sell it.
