Hi,
I just recently bought a corsair CX750M power supply and am in my final stages of a build. though the 24 pin motherboard connector won't fit all the way into the motherboard slot. I have tried using massive amounts of force ( as in the answer now is not that it needs to be forced more). Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Solution
I had this issue on an MSI board. Common problem with MSI boards. I used a VERY small flat head screwdriver to get it to fit properly. I'm not surprised by this on a budget CWT made unit resold by Corsair.
Power connectors are keyed to fit only one way.
Look carefully at the shape of the pins and sockets.
The proper orientation of a 24 pin connector is to have the side with the latch on the power cable matdh the side of the socket with a ridge that the latch slides over.
You may need to hold the latch open while inserting the 24 pin lead.

have you tried powering it, if it works, it works...if your system powers up you shouldn't have anything to worry about. the worst thing that could happen is that the pc wont start.

It is a very tight connection, within a millimeter or so, but the latch to keep it firmly attached isn't locked down

ok, then do you have any ideas on fixes as corsair is unwilling to post a fix on their forums and i cant find a fix on here either.

heres a photo of how close it is

PS i'm just really frustrated, sorry if i come across as confrontational.

the board is also MSI

Are you sure the 20pin and 4pin and sitting 100% flush with one another to form the 24pin cable? They have a notch that much be correctly slotted in place in order to be 100% flush.

In order to get mine in on my MSI board I needed ALOT of force. Like more than feels safe by a significant amount.

ohh, dont worry ive got the force department covered, how do you think i got it in this far. ;0

i have read articles about how the connector just needs to be "worn in." is this a thing and would this help.

and yes the 20 and the 4 pin connectors are flush while im putting it in, and i have since taken the board out to get a better handle on it.

the pins just dont wanna go all the way in.

yeah, mistakes were made on the combo. but im going to just put them in the best i can and see if it should boot.

if anyone thinks this is a bad idea plz let me know NOW...

thanks

did it boot? if so you should be good to go. nothing harmful can happen with the 24pin power connector, either it's starts or it doesn't. if the pins were inserted correctly i would just push the connector with a small screwdriver like someone above said. that's what i did, and my system works fine.
