2400 MHz RAM for Intel i7 4790K

Hi.
I was shocked by a question today by one of my friends whos calming that the i7 1790k Cpu supports only Ram with 1333MHz & 1600 MHz (max).
does this mean I cant make use of the higher Frequencies?
if I can how to go about it in a nut Shel.

You can but some would consider it an overclock. To do so go into your bios and enable the xmp profile to get ram to the speeds they are labeled at

2400 MHz RAM for Intel i7 4790K < No problem just enable in the BIOS UNDER DRAM settings XMP profiles.

That only means thru the xmp profile. You can over clock manually to any speed.

there is an option on the bios. btw what mobo are you using?

Yes, if you don't OC then it will run at 1600mhz.

Not really an overclock, more like enabling. XMP is already built into most 1150 mobo's
