Hi everyone,
After undergoing some benchmark tests i found my ram was under performing by a large amount. After going into asus uefi bios i found that the ram mem. freq. was set on auto and had options for 667mhz all the way up to 2400mhz, after changing it to 2133 MHZ my pc kept on beeping then changed it to 1833 mhz - beeped again all the way until 667 mhz until there was a sucessful boot. When buying the RAM it had frequencies all the way upto 2133 mhz and 2400 mhz (o.c.). Has anyone got any ideas why its not booting under supported frquencies???

check you mobo to see if it can even support that high, most dont and the ones that do you need to overclock to reach that high. If it does set all your timings manually and check the dram voltage in your bios to see if it matches what they require to work

also there is no need of 2400mhz memory you will not see any difference using that high unless you plan on doing a ram drive.

1600 to 1866 is the max you really would ever need

667 is actually 1333 as ddr is double. The best way to make these work at rated speeds is to use the XMP profiles. under your ram settings in bios pick XMP profile 1 this should be 2133 and a good place to start. If your mobo does not support xmp profiles this is most likely a bad sign but set it to the speed you wand and set the timings to what is on the box and set the voltage to 1.6 or 1.65. should work the higher speeds need more volts but looser timings.

Thent

i dont have the box, buuut i just checked on order historty and found it:http://www.scan.co.uk/products/8gb-(2x4gb)-corsair-ddr3-vengeance-racing-red-pc3-17066-(2133)-non-ecc-unbuffered-cas-11-11-11-27-xm
When i bought it, it definately had 2400mhz written on it, but oh well ill set all the timiings as it says and voltage to 1.5v and 2133mhz??

Doesn't matter what mobo 'supports', the CPU has to be able to carry the sticks, If no XMP look for DOCP or EOCP (AMD overclocking profiles) and best bet would be to start by enabling that and trying 1866 if you have a higher end FX CPU (8120 or better) else 1600

ok @ 2133 mhz it said that ocing had failed but at 1833 mhz it worked so now i have upgraded from 667 to 1833 lol, i can actually notice the difference in speed of loading programs and overall speed,, anyway thanks guys!! :)

i couldve and shouldve although it was 52 quid when i got it from scan :)

Hey guys I'm also having the same problem from my new build. I had the pc built up so I'm a spanner man not a tech guru. Any help would be great.
The specs:
Amd fx9590 4.7ghz CPU.
R.o.g Asus crosshair v formula z motherboard.
Kingston hyper x beast dual channel 16gb 2400mhz RAM. Samsung 128gb ssd. 2xsapphire Radeon hd7770 1gb ghz edition(crossfired)
cm storm stryker case

But, the RAM is only running at 667mhz. Any help would be great. Thanks

Go into the BIOS and look for DOCP, EOCP or XMP - when found enable it and try selecting 2133 or 2400, if no joytry the other and on down to 1866 - if no joy at 1866 give me a shout - or try it manually - set freq to 2400 timings to 11-13-13-32, Command Rate/timing to 2N or 2T, DRAM voltage to 1.65 and CPU/NB voltage to 1.25 - else 2133, 10-12-12-30, 2N, 1.65 andCPU/NB 1.25 - or freq to 1866, 9-11-11-28, 2N or 2T, 1.6, and 1.23
