Hello guys, I have a i7-4770 non-k and a Asus Z97 Pro gamer mobo. I'm looking to buy a 2x8GB=16GB ram ddr3 at 2400mhz.
If i buy that ram and enable XMP it will run at 2400mhz?
Any problem if I buy the RAM that is not listed on QVL?!

Solution
In essence you don't need to overclock your CPU and thus have no need for a K suffixed processor. All you'll have to do is go into BIOS and enable X.M.P profile and reboot system, check for any errors with stress testing and if no errors come up, you're good to go. I would highly suggest that you're verified your BIOS is up to date.

There is no problems with buying rams that aren't in the QVL but make sure you buy kits instead of mismatched sticks of ram.

Solution
I've seen a number of 4770s and 4770Ks that won't run 2400 sticks at stock - it's the luck of the draw (silicon lottery) on how strong your CPUs MC (memory controller) is. What DRAM you can run, data rate wise is dependent on the MC. Many think it's the mobo but that went by the wayside as the determing factor with the end of the socket 775 mobos. If you try and have problems at 2400 we can try some adjustments

Thats to expensive unless I found a good deal I don't want to expend more than 85€. I was thinking is something like
Gskill Ripjaws X DDR3-2400MHz 2x8GB (F3-2400C11D-16GXM)

Thank you for selecting my post as the Best Answer. If you'd like suggestions to a ram (kit) then perhaps shoot us a link for a site you'd like to purchase from 😉 On another note, it'd serve as an excellent platform to the community if you could give us a follow up of your overclocked ram.
