Hey guys,

I have an i5 2500k with a Z68 asrock board and 2x4GB 1600mhz CL9 corsair ram ( http://www.corsair.com/en-eu/vengeance-pro-series-8gb-2-x-4gb-ddr3-dram-1600mhz-c9-memory-kit-cmy8gx3m2a1600c9 ) and I need more more, my question is, if I buy the same ram but 2400mhz CL11 variant ( http://www.corsair.com/en-eu/vengeance-pro-series--8gb-2-x-4gb-ddr3-dram-2400mhz-c11-memory-kit-cmy8gx3m2a2400c11 ), can I underclock it to have the same CL9-9-9-24 and 1.5v (it says 1.65v on the site, I guess that's only if you push it to 2400mhz) ? It should be the same ram. I'm asking this because the 2400mhz variant costs less than the 1600mhz where I live.

Solution
the mainboard will not operate to higher values and the ram will run at the speed of the slower ram available, if it works with the new module, it should automatically set itself to that speed
