Hello,

I just found out this Chinese SSD named "KingDian S280", which costs 55$ for 240GB.
It's not like in the funny picture that's around the internet, where you see a USB-flash drive inside an SSD case, it's a real SSD.
Look at the many feedbacks with photos showing its performance! It's really fast:

What do you think? Should I give it a try? Has anyone heard of it/Has an experience with it?

Solution
Well I can spend $20 more for a quality drive (like Samsung 750 evo) that will last years, perform well and has an actual warranty by a company that will honor it,

Or I can take a chance of my $55 drive crapping out in a very short period of time and causing me hours of frustration.

So if I only call your time worth $10 an hour and very generously say the risk is only 50%

Sasmsung 750 evo cost = $75

Cheapo drive cost = Risk percent x (drive cost + (hours spent troubleshoot and then reinstalling windows/programs x hourly rate)) + cost of a different cheap drive
= .5 * (55 + (10 x 3.5) + 65
cheap drive cost = $110

Not until they are become standard in computers and not "premium"

Right now there are too many uneducated buyers who would think the 500gb HDD is better because it has a bigger number then the 240gb SSD. Regardless of the fact that they don't even use 100gb on their computer.

You're so right! But I hope soon it will change and we'll look at this post and think "Hey look 240GB used to cost 75$ but now it's for 1TB"
