24gb ram or 16gb ram dual channel

Will 24gb ram 2133mhz give me an upgrade or downgrade in terms of game performance? I have 16gb ram in 2x8gb config but will adding another 8 be worth it? I can get it for about $20 if that helps in terms of value. I understand that I will lose dual channel but does that matter that much?

There is no guarantee the new memory will be compatible with your current memory even if identical , stick with the 16GB in Dual Channel.

Not really , because it most situations that high of a memory usage is rarely reached.
