250 chipset and overclocking

I have a B250 HD3 motherboard and a gtx 1050ti OC gpu. I wanted to try overclocking but i've heard that my motherboard's chipset won't allow it. is that true? and if it is would that only apply to the cpu or to the gpu as well?

You can oc the GPU, not the CPU on that board. If you don't have a processor ending with a K you couldn't have anyway

Yeah, only the "Z" chipsets on Intel's side allow CPU overclocking of any kind, GPU overclocking on the other side though, is not bound by any restrictions, except some limits set by the manufacturer, so you don't fry your card.
