250 watt psu for a couple of days?

Hey, I just got an Asus 9600 gso and was wondering if I could run it on the stock 250 watt psu for a couple of days carefully until my new 500 watt psu ships in. I've seen a couple of forums where folks have done this without problems. Other specs- 350 gig SATA HD, 3 gig DDR2 ram, Intel core 2 duo 4200, 2 stock case fans on an HP Pavilion desktop- Thanks!

no, I wouldn't try it on an included psu.

You might get away with it as long as you don't try anything resembling gaming.

Ok, thanks. According to the online power supply calculator this card doesn't pull much more than my old 8600 gt, and that alway ran fine.

how much more because included PSU's will output the absolute minmum needed for the build when at 100% tdp.

might as well try it .

Im sure it will be fine for 2D applications , but even if it cant handle the current draw it should just turn off if it is overheating .

It will be lot like someone pulled the socket from the wall, not a windows shut down

Why install the ur new graphics card now if you cant even use it? I'd wait until your 500w psu comes in and just do it all at once, keep your old 8600 for now. Unless of coarse ur 8600 crapped out and you need a new GPU so you can at boot up, that i would understand.

I wouldn't risk it, but as stated before, if your vc is dead... up to you, but I would wait.
