My friend wanted me to put together a buget computer. (first problem) I had to use the existing case, (micro atx) and other hardware. Im changing mobo, ram, processor and video. I picked out a Gigabyte mobo with the KM400 chip on it, a Barton 2500+ and an ATI 9200. Before Ordering I sent Gigabyte Tech an e-mail asking if this board would accept a Barton 2500+. I didn't recieve a reply for a couple of days so I called. With the call they said "SURE" "any XP with a 333 FSB". I then recieve the e-mail response back a few days later saying "No, just the T-Bred cores" Well, buy the time the e-mail came back the stuff in in route from NewEgg. So, I called Gigabyte back and they said "give it a try, it might work." What do you think will happen if I stick the Barton in the KM400? Im am guessing it will not reconize it correctly.. What do you think. Thank you for your time. Take care all.

I think it´ll work just fine. Although you should see what the others say first as most of them have more experience in this than I do.

The most important is not being recognized by BIOS, just make sure your OS recognize as a Barton. Try CPUiD or similar soft and look what it sees. Also you ccan run some benches and see if results correspond to Barton 2500+

I am going to try a mobile 2400+ on a KT266A mobo. So I am inthe same ship as you!

Still looking for a good online retailer in Spain :frown:

I´m running a KM400 chipset mobo with a 2500+ Barton, and it works fine! Running stable at 202MHz FSB.
