Very nice research, but ...

who knows what will happen to prices, availability (GTX470 is out) and tech.

sounds like you are on top of it ...

... I suppose, then, that you have researched your case options, ad nauseum ...

That case combo looks like a waste of more than $60, to me, when the HAF-922 is available, for so much less ... cases are personal, tho, and you may have your reasons. You need not explain yourself to ME ... just wanted to point out the HAF, as an excellent, and far less expensive alternative.

= Burrrp ! =

Carnedude I'm in the same situation as you. Our systems are very close. I have the same concerns as you do. I don't plan on OCing so I'm thinking about waiting for the I-7 950. To me this seems like a better move in a few weeks rather than the I-7 930now. Hopefully some of the experienced builders will add their expertise.

Would this also be a good gaming processer?

Well I may have done something stupid but I dunno. Either way this is gonna be monster when its all done. I decided to go big and get a 950 now instead of waiting. Also doubled up my HDD for raid 0 and added a mushkin 60gb SSD. I ended up having a little more cash than planed and now the build is at 3k after shipping and rebates and stuff. Its all ordered and on the way.
