hi there.
well i got the following system:

abit nf7-s v2.0
amd barton 2500+(multiplier locked to 11)
gigabyte radeon 9600 pro ultra
2x256 mb ram kingston valueram ddr 400
cooler zallman cnps6000+ full Cu

i've trie to overclok the system and the only stable config i've got is

2103 mhz(190 x 11) temp 35-43(C)
ram sync at 380 mhz

if i raise the bus fq more than that the system doesn't boot

then, i've modified the cpu voltage to 1.7(from 1.65) and it boots, but after 1-2 minutes of running hot cpu tester it reboots. i've tried ram voltage from 2.6 to 2.7 and the result it's the same. i want to obtain 3200+ but it won't work. how do i do it(i think is from ram but i don't know). the config for ram i've tried are 9-3-3-3 and 8-3-3-3. so i guess it's all about voltages. please help

thanks

First thing I should remind you, is that you have already a very good overclock there, since you are only 100MHz away from a 3200+ PR. Although many 2500+s can easily reach 2.2GHz with stock voltage, there are exceptions to this "rule". In order to achieve an even better overclock, slowly increase your vcore voltage, until you get a stable system at 11x200. Always keep an eye on the temps though since you don't want to fry your CPU. For example on my setup I know that I should better not exceed 1.75v, otherwise my CPU gets really hot. I guess that at 1.75v (max) you should be able to get a stable system at 11x200 (since you have no problems at 11x190 / 1.65v), but as I said earlier, check your CPU temps as well. If they are too high, then you should settle for 190x11.

Also, leave the ram voltage at its default and the timigns at 3-3-3-8. That's deffinetely not your problem since your memory is DDR400.

Leave ram set to "optimal" in BIOS. After adjustment to FSB, run memtest86 (it'll check your ram). If OK go on to Prime95 (or other proggie) to check cpu. Most likely that's the problem,

If cpu fails, up vcore by smallest possible increment and retry.

Since your at FSB 190 @ 1.65v (and remember this mobo undervolts) you should make it to 200

BTW, On my OC I hit a wall at same place as you, but am using more vcore, had to stop until better cooling I ordered arrives. Anyway, I'm curious to see if a voltage increase to chipset (NB) will help. Maybe experiment with that if all else fails.

Good Luck

Barton 2500+
Abit NF7-S v 2.0
Maxtor 60GB ATA 133 7200RPM
512MB Corsair Twinx 3200LL
9600 Pro
Enermax Noisetaker 420 watts
Win98SE

It may help to run the chip hard for a while at 11 X 190. This is called burn-in, and allows the current pathways to solidify. Try running prime95 for a couple of hours. Then move up to 195 fsb and do the same thing.( this may require a little more voltage, so try 1.675) I like to run the mbm5 dashboard during prime95, to keep an eye on the temps. Run at that speed for a day or two before trying 200.

hi there. i'm back after a lot of testing. i've got it stable at 2200 mhz(finally). the problem was that i was using max 1.75v for vcore(bios setting), but my mobo monitor says that there are only 1.71v. so i set it to 1.775 and there it is:the monitor says i have 1.74-1.76v for vcore. i've tested with prime95(only a little, because there are some windows specific problems) and with hot cpu tester about 6 hours and all ran fine. thanks u guys for help and happy OC.
