Hey guys!
Okay, well I'm looking to get a good budget performance gaming computer when I get enough money - probably around christmas. I've never really had a good desktop, only laptops, so I don't have much hardware experience at all. Planning for this system to last at least a few years, through school and the start of uni hopefully.
I wanted to get it from a big store on eBay, however recently I've been reluctant to because they really only offer 2600k's on the systems I'd consider, which is "overkill" for me. You can add parts to the preset builds, but there's not much of a selection and you can't buy a sound card (I need) or cooler off them anyway(I want to overclock to 4ghz+). Here's an example: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/INTEL-Core-i7-2600K-GAMING-COMPUTER-PC-8G-1TB-HD6950-2G-/360355062887?pt=AU_comp_dekstop&hash=item53e6d5e467
So in short, I'm thinking of just building it myself, and getting assistance from a close mate of mine if I need to. Been hesitant though, because of not only my inexperience but also having to install all the ******* drivers etc.
I just need some guidance on the full parts of the system (including cooling if that's necessary).
Here's what I have in mind so far, prices from pccasegear.com.au [cheapest I know of in Australia]:
Case: (Recommend one?)
Motherboard: MSI Z68MA-GD65 (LGA 1155)
Optical drive: Don't think I want one... +$25 if so
CPU: i5 2500k
GPU: ATI 6950 or GTX 560/570 - can be cheaper, whatever I can afford
RAM: 8GB 1333MHz G.Skill Ripjaws (I read 1600MHz is a lot better for gaming...)
Cooler(s): ???
Soundcard: ASUS Xonar DX
HDD: WD 1TB 7200rpm
PSU: (Recommend one?)
Prices in chronological order: ?, $215, $219, ~$300, $59, ???, $95, $75 = $963 without Case, cooler, PSU, OS, price for my mate to build it if I choose to...
Looking a bit expensive, might get cheaper parts and upgrade them when I can...
So what do you guys think? Can add more info as requested.
Thanks
I use too many brackets, soz
