I'm in the market for an IPS monitor and I need help choosing one. I found two that I'm stuck between and I'm not sure. I'm not to big of a gamer, but in my free time I will play like BioShock Gmod and tf2. I'm not a serious or hardcore gamer. I'm casual. I do a ton of video editing. Here are the monitors.

LG Electronics UM57 25UM57 25-Inch Screen LED-lit Monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00V8FAWC2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_GzNsxbF6R9D2E

ASUS MX239H 23" Full HD 1920x1080 AH-IPS HDMI DVI-D VGA Back-lit LED Monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B1IAL7W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_zANsxbM0MAVZA

Should I go for an ultra wide or should I go for the 16:9. I'm stuck. I've read that once you go wide you never go back lol. Would my GPU be good enough for the ultrawide? It's a gtx 760. I'm going to upgrade my GPU eventually as well. I just want to get a monitor that will last me awhile and is great looking.

1. Recognize that the $700 IPS 144 Hz screens w/ 3 ms lag times (Acer Predator XB271HU / Asus PG279Q) that do gaming really really well are very much unlike the $200 screens to which you have linked.

2. The technology that goes into making IPS perform fast enough in gaming is not available at 1080p.

3. 2560 x 1080 is a bit of a stretch for a 760 in modern games, tho Bioshock will do just fine

If you want a monitor that will last a while, and serve well into the future, Id suggest the Asus VG248QE

I really like the monitor that you have linked, but will the colors be good? Once I calibrate the settings will it be okay? How does it compare to ips? Also I read a lot of reviews with the display port not working.
