I have a Gigabyte P57W v6 laptop that I am trying to connect to my Dell U2713HM monitor at 2560x1440. The laptop has HDMI 2.0 and VGA. HDMI 2.0 easily supports 1440. The monitor has HDMI 1.3 and should support 1440p. Sadly, according to a Dell Moderator found on their forums (https://www.dell.com/community/Monitors/Dell-U2713HM-and-Asus-N56VZ/m-p/4064045 and again here https://www.dell.com/community/Monitors/How-to-get-max-resolution-on-U2713HM-with-a-laptop-lacking-DVI/td-p/4032144) the U2713HM does NOT support 1440 on HDMI. “Only the DVI-D and Displayport can get 2560x1440.” I’ve purchased various adaptors and cables from amazon claiming to take HDMI 2.0 to DVI-D or Displayport at 1440 or even 4k but all have either been limited at 1080 or unidirectional cables Display port to HDMI. Does anyone have an adaptor or cable that takes HDMI to DVI-D or Displayport at 1440 or above? I would prefer to use display port over DVI-D if possible but any working solution will do.

Solution

This adapter will convert HDMI to DisplayPort and I have tested it at 2560×1440 myself:
