Currently have an IPS LG 27850GL which is about 5 years old and working fine, but I'd like to check out what a higher contrast screen has to offer for gaming. Exploring options, I am semi familiar with the various display techs available but cant claim to be an expert. Please correct or advise if theres something I'm not understanding or missing. Looking to make a short list of potential models to compare for myself.

The headlines

- Budget of €800 or less, would rather spend less if possible.
- Will buy probably later in the year, possibly around Black Friday.
- I'm in Europe (Finland). Will either buy locally or from Germany if prices are better.
- Running an RTX 4070 with a Ryzen 5800X3D.
- OLED Screen. Would consider VA or Mini LED, but I would like something thats a meaningful IQ upgrade over what I have without noticeable smearing in games etc.
- 2560x1440
- At least Freesync Premium or Gsync. I switch GPU brands so it needs to work with all GPU types.
- No brand preference. Not a big fan of 'gamer' style but willing to be flexible if the screen is great.
- 27 inch, would consider 32 if theres a really good one.
- Anything 120Hz plus is fine, more is a bonus but not required as I'm happy with VRR at 80hz plus, and will lower settings to maintain that frame rate.
- If it matters I play almost everything, FPS, IMMSIM, Soulslikes, CRPG, 4X Strategy, etc but almost all single player.

What Ive found so far:

I've checked out some Rtings articles and a lot they are recommending is at 4K for gaming and I dont want to go there yet.

https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/msi/mpg-271qrx-qd-oled

https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/gigabyte/aorus-fo27q3

These 2 are over budget.

This one is bang on budget but I'm not big on the ROG aesthetic. If its the only option I'll consider it.

Display Ninja recommends another Asus except its well over budget and the same over budget MSI model as above.

Finally

Am I dreaming about finding multiple OLED models to compare at this budget level curently? Or are there some worthwhile options I'm missing the bigger sites arent recommending? If theres anyone out there with good quality options for under €800, or any upcoming releases that might be more suitable it would be much appreciated! TIA.

How about MSI MAG 271QPXDE QD-OLED E2, which is right on the money,
store: https://www.proshop.fi/Naeyttoe/265-MSI-MAG-271QPXDE-QD-OLED-E2-OLED-monitor-27-HDR/3296375

It should have same panel as the 2K king, MSI MAG 271QRX QD-OLED, but operates at 240 Hz rather than 360 Hz. Also, has some small missing features as well.

Or if you do need 360 Hz, then MSI MAG 271QPX QD-OLED is also under the budget (even cheaper than 240 Hz one),

Those both look interesting thanks! Looks like the QPX is exactly the same as the QRX except it doesnt have an RGB strip or the 'smart gaming app'. Suspect I can live without those. Thats really good to know.

I'll keep both of those on watch for a sale later on, great.

Still looking if anyone has more suggestions, the more good options I find the more chance I'll pick one up on a good deal sometime. :)

For LED strip, take any RGB or ARGB LED strip and glue it to the back of monitor with double-sided tape. Then you have backside LED. :)
As for as the gaming app, all it does, is enabling you to control your monitor via software, rather than via physical control joystick the monitor has. But physical joystick can be used just fine as well.

So, your call if the small ARGB LED logo and software convenience is worth the extra price that QRX costs over QPX.
