Plz only reply if you know what you are talking about, with an explanation.

I read rendering is all about cores, but for animation, do I need more cores, or more frequency + faster single core performance?

I will be gaming as well, but not my primary use. Both light games and AAA titles like resident evil 2 remake and dmc 5.

1700 costs only 15euro more, in my country.

Goals are animation > rendering > low temps and good architecture > gaming.

Thanks a lot to everyone.

sheer peformance wise the 2600 is slightly better, just slightly, yet the 1700 has 8\16, that being said it will perform significantly better in applications that take benefit from multi-core/threading, rendering to begin with, and will not falter on gaming, animation etc. So within the order you presented, i'd say 1700, if the order were exactly the opposite, i'd say 2600
