I am planning to build a new mini itx gaming pc for my living room.

It will have an RTX 2080 and 3200 Mhz RAM.

For 4k gaming, will there be much difference between the 2600x and the 2700x?

The 2600x is £195 and the 2700x is £310.

Thanks.

Getting the 2600x with an eye to going to a 3000 later is a good strategy. But something else to consider is getting a 2600 and putting the savings into the motherboard. It's an easy upgrade to the 3000 processor on the same motherboard...not even needing an OS re-install...so you'll want to pick one that will last a while.

Personally, I'd look for one with a good VRM and with the NVME closest to the CPU. That NVME location might allow you to put a PCIE 4.0 SSD into it and have it...

Personally, I'd look for one with a good VRM and with the NVME closest to the CPU. That NVME location might allow you to put a PCIE 4.0 SSD into it and have it operate at PCIE gen 4 speed, which Ryzen 3000 will support.

If the device is close enough to allow signal path traces to be less then 6" it meets the PCIE gen 4.0 spec. Then all that's needed will be motherboard mfr. to release BIOS support, I suppose. No guarantee for any of that of course but it is a consideration.

Agree with Supahos, @4K60 the RTX2080 will be carrying the workload and pushing 100% GPU usage in modern titles. Your 4K TV will look fantastic with that card. Some TVs are native/internal 120hz refresh, which adds to the smoothness of the display.

For gaming the price difference doesnt justify the performance difference.

In fact, id just go with a 2600 & not the 2600x. The 2600 is $160 & with all the money you saved get a nice motherboard & just overclock the 2600.

A 2600x is basically a factory overclocked 2600.
