Question 2666 vs 3200 for Ryzen 5 1600

It depends on what you are doing with the cpu....

Assuming gaming, then yes going for faster memory can give the 1600 a good boost in cpu limited situations as the "infinity fabric" clock on Ryzen cpu's is tied to the memory speed.

In other software (e.g. rendering, video editing software and so on) this doesn't make much difference. Also keep in mind that in games where the gpu is the bottleneck it won't make a difference, so does depend

Given that the cost for 3200 speed RAM is within a few dollars anymore (at least in the states) theres no reason not to spend the small difference.


If this is an existing system then as said above depends on the application so the upgrade cost may not be worth it.
