Hello,

I have just bought a 27" viewsonic IPS monitor. Before this i had a 1080p samsung 22" monitor, which i was used to.

This 27" seems like a wonderful size when i am in windows/itunes/browsing, cant fault it... however when i am playing a game such as far cry 3, it seems very big

I dont know why it seems so big only when gaming, but maybe im still getting used to it?

Also, i sit roughly 60 CM away from my screen when using the keyboard, however during gaming i almost always use the xbox wireless controller so i sit ~120 cm away (still seems rather big)

Also, i always game in 1080p at 60hz and i always use a HDMI cable (although this monitor can handle up to 75hz, could that be a reason?)

I have taken a photo here, you can see how far away the screen is:

Also just incase this is relavant, here are my specs:

Monitor: Viewsonic VX2770SMH-LED

PC: 3570k, 7970, 60gb ssd, 3tb hdd, 8gb ram#

So my question is, why does this monitor seem so big when gaming? Is this refresh rate related, or is it just my eyes being attention seekers?

Thanks

Krish

Ahh i see, but when i am gaming i am between 1m - 1.5m so i dont understand why its an issue

game resolution is always 1920 x 1080p / 60hz (and this is also the native res)

I think I may have an idea where the problem is coming from, my seat height level.

If i look dead straight at my monitor, my eyes are above the center of the screen, I would say inline with top of the screen. Would this be a reason?

I just played 1 hour of far cry 3, and my eyes are burning like hell. Before on my 22" i could play for hours on end without any problems.

I have until friday to decide if i want to keep it, as i can return it, I really hope it will grow on me.

thanks

If you are experiencing discomfort then I'd suggest returning it. (I have to play with glasses on otherwise my eyes get strained) Look for a 24" monitor. It's a perfect size.

I don't think seat height is the issue. I think most people view the monitor from above the middle. Also, you can always tilt it to improve the perfect angle. (this matters a lot with TN panels)
