can i delete this folder?

i was told that folder is related to the "Intel Driver Update Utility 2.2" program. so would it be okay to uninstall this particular program w/o effing up my pc? (Vista)

So, not knowing much, I googled .etl extension, and got:

"File extension etl is associated with Microsoft Windows and is used for files created with Trace Log utility.
A typical .etl file usually appears in root of system drive after crash (BSOD). These files can be quite large sometimes, but can be safely removed. They basically just serve for purpose of logging activity during crash (performance, status of memory etc.)."

Since this file has bloated up to 27GB, and since you have no need for it, it seems you can safely delete it. Use Disk Cleanup first and see if it deletes it. If not, use CCleaner, which is a little more aggressive.

I do wonder why Intel's software is doing so many update checks to your system, seems like...

I do wonder why Intel's software is doing so many update checks to your system, seems like several per day. That's peculiar. You may want to put a stop to that. I would think you can disable or uninstall the auto update program, since I really doubt there are updates for Vista drivers these days. That should stop the logging if it bothers you. Or you could leave it and do a cleanup periodically.
