Hey folks,
Gonna buy desktop next week so I need monitor to accompany my rig. Any advice?
Requirements: 27" 1440p ips, price ~500$.
I play mmorpg, rpg, strategy games. The only competitive game i play is DotA 2.
So I would like to know if input lag is noticeable in monitors like ASUS PB278Q?

Solution
ASUS monitors are definite quality. I would go with the ASUS PB278QR as it is the newer update to the ASUS PB278Q. It sports a switch from the PLS panel of the previous model to an AH-IPS one on the newer one.

5ms is not a bad lag as compared to a 1ms or 2ms monitor as a few milliseconds will not be all that noticeable for most people.

Also, Check out monitors made by BenQ as they make excellent montors designed for gaming that can fit your price range as alternatives. Such as the BenQ XL2720Z.

The ASUS model that you have listed is a quality unit as well.

Cheers!

Larger screen resolutions will always come with a tradeoff. Even our upgrade to LED monitors over old CRT monitors have a major advantage over the LCD and LED screens of today in that they could turn off pixels and produce a true black on a screen that LED and LCD monitors can't. Anyway, The larger input lag is inherent in all large resolution IPS monitors. I noticed it a little bit when going back and forth between another computer in my house and that one, but I adapted to it and got used to it on my computer.

Thanks. I found few decent monitors at similar price point:
Fujitsu P27T-7
AOC Style Q2770PQU
Dell U2713HM
ASUS PB278Q
ASUS PB278QR
Which one would you choose?

I just bought an ASUS PB278Q 1440p and I am very happy with it. Amazing colors, features and build quality would recommend...almost bought a Korean 1440p for 1/2 price but went with ASUS and don't regret.
