First off thanks for any suggestions!

I am currently calculating the pricing for my new PC upgrades, I've ordered the following parts:

Intel i7 6900k - Upgraded form i5 4670
32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM 3200MHz DDR4 - Upgraded from 8GB Toshiba 1600MHz DDR3
Asus Strix x99 Motherboard - Upgraded from Asus H81m Plus
Asus Strix GTX 1080 - Upgraded form Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970
2 x Samsung 850 Evo (will be in raid 0) - Upgraded from Toshiba 2TB 5200RPM HDD
400GB Intel nVME SSD - Upgraded from 128GB Kingston V300
EKWB 240MM AIO - Upgraded from stock intel cooler 🙁

All that is now left is my monitor.

I currently have a 1080P, 60Hz IPS panel and although the colours are great, It's limited to 60Hz before it starts to tear and the GTX 1080 will be wasted at this resolution. So The two monitors I am looking at are:

Acer Predator Z301C
Asus ROG PG279Q

The Asus ROG has a 144Hz, 1440P, IPS Panel with a response time of 4ms.

The Acer Predator has a 144Hz (200Hz OC), 1080P 21:9, AMVA Panel with a response time of 4ms.

What sort of FPS would I get on Max settings using the 21:9 monitor, I can't find any 1080P ultrawide benchmarks.

Would the 1080P screen look too pixelated compared to me current 24 Inch screen?

Thanks again for any suggestions!

Solution
The 1080p screen won't look too pixelated compared to the 24-inch.

To judge the FPS you'd get on the 21:9 1080p monitor, you can check the 1440p benchmarks. It'll be relatively close, but it will give you more FPS than the 1440p.

Personally, I would get the Acer Predator Z301C. I really like the 21:9 format, especially for gaming. But if you do graphic design work, the IPS monitor would give you better colors.

More FPS and the 21:9 format sounds promising! I don't do much graphic design work apart from the odd youtube video or the odd thumbnail here and there. In terms of real estate, will I gain more on the 21:9 because people have complained that 1080P 21:9 just feels stretched and the real estate isn't there...

Of course you'll gain real estate. It's not stretched, so to speak. There are literally more pixels added to the width.

1080p displays have 2,073,600 pixels. 2560x1080 have 2,764,800. 1440p have 3,686,400.

Also, let me clarify. See how 1440p has almost a million more pixels than the 2560x1080? To guess the FPS you'll get on the 2560x1080 monitor, you might be best off finding the average of the FPS for 1080p and 1440p for a certain game.
