27" Too big for Gaming?

So I know recently spotted an ASUS VE278Q fairly cheap.
The Monitor is 27"

I sit around 1 ft away from my Monitor only, And play a mixture of games, But mostly FPS, But nothing really too fast paced apart from Counter-Strike. Other than that, Mostly Arma 3.

Is 27" too big or would it be fine for me?

Depends on personal preference. I'd say that 27" at 1 ft would see some individual pixels, but a full arm length away form keyboard would be absolutely great.

If it's a 2k screen or larger, yeah 27' would work great. However I'd advise against 27 inch 1080P monitors, reason being is that you can really see the pixels at 1ft away, I'd only get a 27 1080P monitor if you have bad eyes.

At 1 foot away I'd say it's too big for fps gaming, you won't be able to see everything on screen which is very important for fps. Also at 27" you want 1440p, 1080p at 2-3 foot is grainy

depends on resolution also.... 27" using 1920x1080 @ 1 ft away maybe too much but @ 2560x1440.... not so bad.

I play on a 27" monitor with a second mounted next to it. I don't notice the pixels on it unless i'm leaning in. I sit about an arms length away(2.75 feet) and it looks great. I'm still looking for a 2k monitor upgrade but I'm not complaining about it.

I agree, 27" should be 1440p IMO. 24" is about as big as I would go for 1080p.
