My 2700x which i got for very cheap in sale is heating too much with msi b450 tomahawk max motherboard.

Bios is on stock and nothing changed in bios no over clocking etc.
idle temps 45-55 c
cinebench R15 tems are 80-84 c full load

if i run prime95 then cpu start throttle down to 3600mhz all core from 3900mhz all core. To keep temperature at around 85 c.

i am using ux200 thermaltek cooler rated for 130w. I hope it's much better than the stock cooler.

Is this normal or is my Mobo doing something wrong? Please help.

Specs-------
Ryzen 2700x cpu
Msi B450 Tomohawk Max
Corasair venegance 3000mhz ddr4 16gb
Kingston A2000 500gb nvme ssd
Cooler master silent pro 600w psu
Quadro K2000 GPU
Thermal take UX200 cpu cooler.
Antec gx202 case with 2 front intake fans and one rear exhaust fan.

No, your motherboard is not the issue, and no, it is not incompatible.

Try re applying thermal paste, and make sure the cooler is tightly mounted.
Yes i did aplied thermal paste twice. And cooler is also well tight mounted.

I just looked at msi website for compatible CPU list and surprisingly the Ryzen 2700x is not in the list. Why? Ryzen pro 2700x is there but not the non pro version. This is very strange.

Any thoughs!

Probably you read wrong or there was a mistake. B450 boards support all ryzen 2nd gen CPUs.

Those temps look normal for a 130W cooler. Your 2700X will pull more than its TDP when using Prime95 e.g. 130W.
You are maxing your cooler. Get a better cooler. I have the Arctic Freezer 33 eSports and my 1800X never gets past 60C in Prime95 max heat/stress test.

The Arctic Freezer 34 eSports DUO can cool 210W and costs 40$:

That cooler looks cool but its not available in my country. do you have any other recommendation for that power range?

I still wonder to think that the CPU is overheating in stock settings on Cinebench r15. isnt it suppose to be working under 80 c? if I have had intel CPU it will work much better with 130W cpu even if the processor rated for 105w. or at least it wont throttle down.

Thers nothing to worry about, you are not throttling under normal PC usage. Prime95 will load your CPU way more than any other load. I am sure in games you are under 85C.

It's not throttling down, it's just not boosting as high. Throttling down is when the CPU shuts down due to extremely high temperatures. I have a 160W TDP Rated cooler on a 3700X, and it stays around 75C during stress tests like P95, so it checks out.
If you don't mind noise, you can go into the bios and set a more aggressive CPU fan curve, which will allow lower temperatures, but at the expense of noise.
For new coolers, a noctua NH U14S, NH U14A, or NH D15 will do. Bequiet Dark Rock 4 and Dark Rock Pro 4 are also good. All are above 200W TDP. If you don't like the brown aesthetic of the standard Noctua coolers, there are "chromax" versions available which are painted black.

But as Zizo said, P95 loads your CPU way more than any regular task would, so you should be fine anyways.

Ok I will check that out. also do you recommend going with AIO with 240mm rad? my work is all rendering (no games) so i will be putting lot of continues 100% stress on CPU.

I will do a quick test on how it actually perform in rendering task, I also want to try with the other B450 mobo I have also from MSI. just to cross check if it makes any difference with and will clear out the mobo compatibility doubts. I will update here the results.

You can try another mobo, but almost certainly it will be the same.

An AIO is not a bad option. I'd suggest a 280mm if you can fit one.

I tried installing the processor on other msi b450 pro m2 V2 Mobo. And the temperatures are the same.

So i think its the cooler mazing it out.

But when i tried to manually set clock speed to 3800 mhz i was able get it stable at 1.2375 volts. Cinebench temps are between 75-80 with all core at 3800mh. But that was possible by PBO disabled. If i keep PBO on then processor downclocks by 100-200 mhz range.

On tomahawk max it won't boot below 1.3 v.

I will keep finding out how low i can get while keeping performance at 3800mhz for now until i get my aio.
