I was wonder if I should get i7 8700k or Ryzen 2700x. Technically already got the 2700x and asus x470 hero wifi motherboard. I can return them for full refund. Now that the reviews are out I'm wondering if I should buy the i7 8700k. My main needs are gaming in 2d, VR, and some streaming. 8700k seems to be king of gaming still. The 8700k is $299.99 at microcenter with an additional $30 off with motherboard combo. Ill will save $90 going with 8700k without cooler and breaking about even with buying an aio cooler. I paid $329.99 for 2700x and $299.99 for the asus x470 hero motherboard. My main concern is VR performance using an HTC Vive Pro. Does the cpu have a big effect on vr or mainly gpu(1080 ti)? I just can't decide and haven't opened up the 2700x for this reason. I would appreciate some opinions. Thanks

Since you already have the 2700X, I doubt you'd be disappointed with it even in gaming; there is still some debate over whether or not Intel can even hang on to it's lead after a round of Spectre/Meltdown patches....but even in websites that have Intel still ahead, it's not any kind of blowout.

Well, if you already got the 2700k, i Think you dont have to change.

I mean, if you stream, the 2700k is defenetly perfect for it (altough it would be no problem for the 8700k too).

I myself got an 8700k from the R 5 1600x and it was a very good improvement still. If you feel like to change, do it, otherwise, just use the ryzen.
