Hi just wondering about this because i am going to buy a graphics card but dont want to waste alot of money on something that wont be able to run games for very long. I was going to get the r9 280x but itll only last me a couple of years should i just get this and will it last just as long for graphically intensive games

Solution
The goal is to hit at least 50fps. Closer to 60 is best cuz at that point you are reaching the limitation of the monitor. Also, benchmarks are an approximation and give you an idea of what to expect. According to the above chart my 280x should get averaging 54 fps on Ultra. I have run FRAPS and have found the average to be more like 60fps with some dips into low 50s. This is with 4 x MSAA on.

I had a 660ti which is almost the same as 270x, but 270x probably slightly higher. I ran BF4 on High getting 60fps. Then I went to Ultra and had to turn off MSAA to get 50+fps. It was definitely playable at that level.

If I didn't own a GPU and wanted one for BF4 then I'd buy either a 770 or 280x. This is assuming I can afford it. Depending on...

Also, do not buy the 4GB version unless you plan to game across 3 monitors. If you do then you'd need 2 GPUs, so I'd advise against it. Stick to the 770 2GB or 270x 2GB or 280x 3GB. They are great choices.

thanks could i put on high and have msaa and i am using only 1 60hz monitor at 1080p would it be good ennough i could save for another few weeks its just that it comes with bf4 and i am getting the msi gaming r9 270x

The 270x will play High with MSAA (1080p) and still get 60fps. Yes, I liked getting the free game with the AMD purchase.

I wouldn't advise Crossfire cuz it produces more heat, requires a larger (more expensive) PSU, and there are issues with running 2 GPUs that aren't in 1 GPU systems. Not to mention the extra cost of buying a second GPU. You are better off building for one GPU.

I'd get the 270x for 3 reasons:

1) You can get a good 270x for $200 whereas a good 760 is $250. (according to US market.)
2) get BF4 for free with AMD gpu
3) 270x is an overclocking beast

What is your PSU?

Highly inaccurate. One simple measure of a GPU is horrid. You gotta look at performance in specific usages. I would agree the tiers are accurate in terms of how they are grouped HOWEVER according to the chart a 660 will max out "most" games at 1920x1080. haha.

If you want to compare GPUs you should find review sites and compare on equal platforms (test setups) and look at how they handle in different stress situations.
