Is it worth the extra money for the 280X? I don't plan on CrossFiring because I am trying to keep the cost down as much as posible and don't want to bother finding a motherboard that supports CrossFire and has a DVI-D and VGA connection port for my monitor so I won't be getting a 2nd card.

what monitor do u have?

if money is not an issue then you can always go for a 280x over a 270x the difference is "HUGE"

Actually I have been advised to go with an AMD FX-6300 and that is 6-cores so no I won't. Plus, that has a faster clock speed than the i5 I was looking at and is unlocked at a far cheaper price than i would have to pay for an unlocked i5.

i have an fx 6300 and an r9 280x

at present yes, but in future you may need it.
But dont compromise the gpu for the cpu fx 6300 and r9 280x is an awesome combination.

According to CPU Boss the 6300 scores a 7.7 with the 8320 scoring a 7.9. With just a .2 score difference it's not worth the extra money I'd be paying. If I do go with AMD I think I'll stick to the 6300 with the 280X.

Been watching the video. What get me is that.. When building a PC lot of people will fall for the 3.0 PCIe and far as for CPU Intel vs AMD The AMD have more CPU core but it cheap and Intel have more threads, An i3 to me is not for gaming. It for more like low end laptop and SuperMirco Desktop for basic like watching movies and exploring the webpage on the internet. Doing office work. Or Skype some Gf. But I bet you can game on it.

AMD CPU is best bang for your bucks. But they are lacking in support of PCIe 3.0 and newer motherboard and lot of people said it not much improve vs PCIE 2.0 vs 3.0 If you do some digging you will find the R9 and the 700 series do render lot on 3.0 vs the 2.0 it all deepens how the OS really pushing the driver support for the PCI express slot. You may see it said 3.0 on the GPU-z but lot of times it not doing the job of the 3.0 have to get a booster for the Enable 3.0 driver support under windows 7 and 8.1 . Saw 10 to 30 FPS better.

I like AMD for things to go faster in as if you get a higher memory like 2400 or 2600 or 2800 DDR3 you can always bring it down to the basic speed setting but tighting your timing as 7-7-7-30, 8-8-8-30 on memory support make a huge different in gaming and doing other task. And compressing a movie or doing photoshop.

The R9 280X does eat some power. Plus have a 4gb roomy space. You won't find anywhere for cheaper price. Most website will all follow price range. ebay always try to get people on a Holiday for extra price and sometime trying to scam lol but most area on there will match prices and it all deepens on shipping and where you are from.

But no matter how fast video card it is and the better it is going to be the better on any CPU. As a matter fact it give your CPU less strain and strees because of a faster better video card is able to render more things than a slower video card on slower CPU dual core.

I have a old AMD right now and I saw huge improvement over a slow video card by buying the best of the best video card class. Was able to game on a 2560 x 1080 resolution with no problems.

I take it English is not your first language.
