Hi, I'm looking to upgrade to a 1080p 27inch monitor to play games on, mainly console gaming. I'm looking for screen that is available in New Zealand and that costs $450NZD or less. I want good colours and good contrast and want to avoid ghosting.

The monitors I have been looking at are:
M2870VQ
I2777FQ
I2781FH

Any opinions on these monitors and recommendations would be much apreciated. Thanks.

Solution
I have a 27" 1080p monitor and it's fine for gaming and watching movies but the low resolution for size of screen is really annoying for Word and Excel documents, text just does not look sharp at all. This seems to be a common complaint with larger monitors at 1080p. It's one of the reasons I will be upgrading to a 1440p 27".

Thanks for the reply. I've been looking at a few other monitors that are cheaper than that one. What are your opinions on these:
27MB65PY-B
278C4QHSN

may I know the prices of both screens in your region?
the LG appears to be $624 and I would never pay that much for a 1080p monitor.
the philips has the ambiglow feature which is quite nice, personal choice really.

main differences are the video inputs.
- LG: VGA, DVI, DP (you need HDMI for consoles!)
- Philips: VGA, HDMIx3

so the LG monitor is a no go.

Thanks for the reply. I've found the LG for $430 at mighty ape and the phillips for $400 and the I2777FQ for $460. The cheapest monitor is the M2870VQ at $380, I don't mind the 28inches but I'm worried about the MVA panel as I have heard they are slower.

I'm getting it mainly for my ps4. The ps4 cannot exceed 1080p and I find my current 24inch monitor too small. I guess it would be a good idea to keep my 24inch for my pc and have a 27inch monitor for my ps4. I hear lots of people saying that 27 inch monitors at 1080p are too low res. I think this is a dumb question but are tvs any better at this size and resolution as people never complain about large tvs, or is it just because people usually sit away from tvs and people are up close to their monitors? I plan to use a 27inch monitor instead of a tv for my ps4 as I can't find any decent tvs of this size and monitors tend to be faster.

Thanks for the reply. I thought this was the case but was unsure if tvs had some effect or something that made them better at bigger sizes.
