$2800 i7 Gaming Build

Hey guys,

im looking to get a new pc soon and need some advice and feedback, heres what i've got so far.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Within two weeks (hopefully) BUDGET RANGE: $2800 AUD roughly $2900 AUD absolute maximum.

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming (Crysis, Crysis Warhead and Wars, COD4 Both Company of Heroes, S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobyl, and general FPS games.), Browsing the net, listening to music, downloading, movies and general office use (word processing i.e Homework)

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: keyboard, mouse, speaker, OS and HDD.

OVERCLOCKING: Yes but i have no experience in this. SLI: Yes

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1200

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Big thing is that i live in Australia and things are a bit more expensive over here, so i am unable to use newegg (very pissed off about) also i have been searching for these parts for months trying to get the best rig for my money. With the motherboard is that better than an ASUS p6t Deluxe v2, cos i was recommended that one, also does eVGA E-LEET utility work with non-eVGA products?

i was thinking about going along the lines of 2 gtx 260's but i will be getting a second 285 later on this year atm i'm really stuck for the motherbaord choice between the ASUS p6t Deluxe V2 or the eVGA Non-Classified x58.

Why would you go with a nVidia GTX 285 when it performs the same (if not worse) then a Radeon 4890 which is also much cheaper?

Also go with the Asus P6T Deluxe (cheaper then the v2 with small difference) (or a cheaper x58 motherboard is fine). You can even get better performance then the 295 if you crossfire two 4890s.

Some budget friendly changes:
Antec 900 case
Corsair 850TX PSU (maybe even 750TX, depending on video card choices)
Asus P6T or Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4P motherboard

2x GTX 260 or 2x GTX 275 in SLI is a good match for 1920x1200 resolution.

To PhillipV, I have now idea where you got your info from but a single GTX 285 shits on a Radeon 4890, and with that Asus p6t Deluxe the V2 is cheaper and only has the SAS HDD option removed. As for WR2 thanks for the advice but with the case and PSU I will not be changing those to quickly as I need those for future upgrades and SLI options, But I'm still not sure whether i should get the eVGA or ASUS motherboard, as nobody can definitively tell me which one is better.

What future upgrade and SLI options are you considering which the 1200 and 1000W PSU support that the 900 and 850W PSU does not support?

I agree with WR2 there is no need for enormous PSU's for this build 850W will be ample.

Im looking in the immediate future of another gtx 285 and later on in further build with gt300 cards in SLI definately

actually the 285 is pretty equal to a standard bin 4890 (900mhz)

and since the 4890 supports DX11 and ATi cards scale better than NVidia cards in multi-gpu setups so it gets my vote.

ATI 4890 doesnt support Direct3d 11 it supports 10.1 only ATM
