280x and 280 in crossfire?

I already have a 280x in my rig, If I were to add a 280 for crossfire, would it work?

no. you can do a 7970 and a 280x, or a 280x and 280x.

yes you can. 280x and 280 are based on same tahiti family. Here's a 280x with 7950(280 rebrand) crossfire setup. The only issue with the xfire is it will be running at the lower gpu speed, which is the 280.
