280X Gpu upgrade help.

I want to upgrade from my r9 280x to a a 290 or 290x and I was wondering if the differences is big enough to justify getting the 290x rather than the 290... And one more thing do y'all think the scaling would be good enough to just crossfire another 280X?

There will be a reasonable difference (about 15-25% on framerates). I wouldn't crossfire as if you chose a gtx 970, it is cheap and it is better than a 290x. I would go for a GTX970 if I was you.
