the the full tahiti chip is faster than the full gk104 kepler. if you never plan on running two cards and you dont need cuda acceleration then the answer is easy.. 280x
both perform similarly, trade blows depending on game and reslution, i think the 770 is slightly faster overall, but it would depend on how high the factory overclock is on both cards. probably not worth the price difference though, no.

I looked an benchmarks and the only game the 280X won in is BF4 and that's because BF4 is optimised for AMD. Everywhere else was either a draw or GTX pulling out.
different clocks... overclock them both and the tahiti always wins... it held all the world records and benchmark suites and gaming charts(until titan) after average overclocks and its cheaper.
