Hey guys, so I've had this card roughly 2-3 years now and it hasn't given me any trouble but last night I was playing and I noticed I thought I smelled something along the lines of burning plastic (never good lol) long story short I opened up the pc and found the fan on the right side had stopped spinning (now they both have) the only issue I've had with these is the left fan is off center and has eaten away at itself by chipping it's fins (taking it out and pulling on the fins fixes the issue and the noise) but next the right fan.

Some later testing this morning shows they both won't spin unless I use msi afterburner to set the card to 100% then after a second they both kick on, the left one will stay on after it drops under 80% but the right one stops again, any ideas?

I have a corsair 800w psu and no recent system changes have been made to my knowledge.

Well that sounds exciting.
It sound like they aren't getting enough power at low settings...

I'd make sure there is nothing blocking them from running, and clean out the card with some compressed air (maybe there is hair wrapped around the fan?).
Try reseating the card and its power cables to make sure everything is in place.

It was defiantly the fans, took a few hours to replace the stock fans with some I bought off of ebay late last year to replace the fan whos bearing was slowly dying.

After tweaking with the cables so they didn't hit anything and I went ahead and replaced the thermal paste with some new articsilver paste I'm happy to say my card is running better then ever (nearly 6 degree difference under full load) thanks for all the help guys!

Just their default profile:) Still not sure why the good fan died in the orginally pair though but it all worked out, btw I just realized I forget I have it set to Fahrenheit so it's really not that much of an impressive diffrence, under a stress test at 100% fans it ran nearly 20 degrees colder but that's just a degree or 2 in Celsius.
