Hello,
I'm new to this whole upgrading GPU so could someone help me to see if I need to upgrade my PSU as well?
I accidentally posted this on GPU forum and was told that my PSU should be okay.
I did not know there was a separate forum for PSUs.

First of all, I have a Dell -
Intel Core i5-2400, 3.1GHz, VT-x, 95W Optiplex 390 / 4GB DDR3 RAM

I just purchased an ASUS Geforce GTX 650 video card and on the box it says "minimum 400W system power supply (with a minimum 12V current rating of 20A)" recommended. It only takes up one PCIe slot and it says "only motherboard power needed" on the box.

My PSU says it's Dell and model # is L265AM-00 / PN is 053N4
Input
100-240V ~/ 5A 50~60Hz
Output
+12VA == 17A max
+12VB == 9A max
+5V == 13A max
+3.3V == 10A max
-12V == 0.5A max
+5V(FP) == 4A max

I was told that my PSU wattage is 285watts by Dell Tech Support.

Do I need to purchase a PSU that's higher than 400W? or is what I have good enough (I'm a bit confused since the 400W was a "recommended" requirement).

I primarily use the PC for gaming (dolphin) & internet.

Any advice would be greatly appreicated.

Thank you in advance!

Yes, that is the card. So far I haven't had any issues of shutting down or re-booting. But if you had to recommend, would you prefer that I get a better PSU?

Thank you!

I've never seen a PSU rated at 285W. That's a rather odd number. But if all is working well, you can rest easy. If I were you, though, I would consider getting a brand name 400W next.
