29 hz through hdmi

I have a problem with an HDMI-connection from my pc to my TV which is a Toshiba SL738N Full HD 100 Hz.
But when I connect it to my pc via HDMI on my 9800gtx+ I cannot get a display in Full HD unless the Refresh rate is set to 29 hz.
Anything above that the screen goes black.
However, if I set the resolution to 1360*768 I can get a display in 60 hz.

Does anyone know the cause/solution to this?

What type of HDMI cable is it? 1.3,1.4

Something interesting happened. Which quite frankly made no sense at all.

We tried hooking the cable on my friends laptop, and that didn't work either - It still couldn't go to 60 Hertz.
But when he used his own cable it could go to 60 Hertz and 1920*1080p.

And here's the interesting part. When we used my cable from his laptop to his TV it worked.

What the hell is going on?

So your card is the only thing that cannot display to your TV with the HDMI cable. Are you using a converter of some kind in there or does your card have a HDMI out.

My card has a HDMI-out.
So I'm thinking if it is the combination of my card with the cable - Since the cable works on another TV, but I still have no Idea whats going on.
