I was wondering what I should do. I heard that the new 800 series is supposed to come out very soon like may or early june but I am not sure how reliable this is. I also heard that evga have a trade in or something where you can buy a card and trade it if a better one comes out within 90 days and p ay the difference so that could be a good idea.

Currently I am running a 650W PSU with an i5 3570k processor.

Even though the 780TI has a better performance compared to the R9 290X, the price between them is worth getting the R9 290X.
You'll have enough money for the 2nd R9 290X quicker, which when you get it can give better performance than the 780TI.

Also, 2x R9 290X's will be enough for any game to date.
You should settle for the 2x R9 290X instead of the 1x 780ti.
But make sure your case has proper cooling and your PSU is beefy enough to support these beast cards.

Your PSU will not be able to support 2 R9 290X's in Crossfire.

Here's the 2x R9 290X's.

The PSU I would recommend for this would have to be atleast 700W, and you might want 750W in order to overclock each GPU and your CPU.
You actually might want to get a custom cooler for your CPU if you are running this setup too.

It's great value for the performance you get our of the Power Supply.
Also, you might want to consider GTX 780 SLI, a GTX 780 is the equivalent to the R9 290X, so it might be viable.

It's cheaper and the 780 and R9 290X can trade blows all day.

Well I was planning on either just getting the one 780 ti or getting one r9 290x and then maybe getting a second one a year or so later maybe when I get a new case, I can't afford the two just now. Would it still be a better investment to to go for the latter option and just have a gap in between the two r9s?
