Hi guys I'm ordering my 1st out 2 290's today and there's 2 versions of the 290, one being clocked at
1000mhz costing £282

And the other clocked at 957mhz costing £272

Could I just buy the 957mhz version and OC it myself to 1000mhz ? it's the exact same cooler so I'm thinking there won't be any difference between the pre OC'd version.

Am I right or completely wrong aha ?

Thanks

You are correct, there won't be any difference in performance if you overclock it yourself to match the OC edition. Just keep in mind you'll have to overclock the memory as well, as it also runs faster on the OC edition of that card (5200 MHz, as opposed to 5000 MHz).
