I have a crosshair-V Formula Z mobo and fx 8350 running all ssd 840 evo's. i have a 1000w psu and just got my second 290x in yesterday and cannot figure out how to get crossfire going. I have tested both cards by themselves and they both work, and i have tried placing each card in every configuration i can think of for the pci slots. my bios only shows one card in slot one. all the leds are green on both cards. i have deleted and reinstalled drivers about 10 times and no change. when i go to device manager i am only seeing one card as well. i dont know what else to look for to fix the problem and cant find any threads other than to delete and reinstall drivers. any ideas?

Are you getting any power to the second one (fans spinning) Are all the power connections to both GPUs dedicated from the PSU (your not using any kind of splitter or adapters?). Have you testing both cards individually to ensure that both function correctly? You have tried a single card in each slot to make sure that all the slots work?

EDIT -- Sorry I just saw that you tested both cards, but I would still check to see if a single card works in each different slot along with trying all the different power connections that you have hooked up to the cards so you can rule out those.

i have one in slot one and one is slot 3. so yes. i have tried them in other slots with no change

i have tried the power cables on both and swapped around, no splitters. they both turn on and spin up. both cards are functional, starting to think that my slots may be bad or the cpu. i have been talking to asus support and he suggested i rma the mobo and cpu.

Is this a new motherboard? The 290x uses bridge-less crossfire and I'm thinking the motherboard might need an update or does not support it. I don't actually know too much about how the bridge-less crossfire works so what I am saying might not be relevant.

Just to be sure, Are they the same model#? There are two different Asus 290x's with the DCII cooler. I ask because the instance I had issue with Asus crossfire was two Asus DCII 7850's - one was DCII other was DCII T.O.P. Had teh same symptoms you've described. They would not crossfire until I flashed the T.O.P. bios to the regular DCII.

I have checked all over the boxes and the cards, the only numbers that are different on them, are the serial numbers. they both have the exact same part numbers so i believe they are the same. what makes me beleive the Asus tech, is that he told me that when running a single card, it should work no matter what slot i have it in. with both cards, i only get a display if i have a card in slot one.

Its the ROG board from Asus for my CPU. it definitely supports crossfire and sli. you are correct about the bridgless crossfire, i have the latest bios updated to the mobo.

thank you guys for all the suggestions. helps me feel less crazy, haha
