2gb 667mhz vs 2gb 800 mhz memory

I installed a xfx 750i motherboard using the old 667 mhz memory 8gb). Will switching to a 800 mhz memory 2gb x4 make any difference. Using a QX6600 2.4 quad cpu, asus gtx550 ti card.

I don't know much about memory, but it seems like a waste of money. Your CPU can run at 1066Mhz, what about your motherboard?
