2GB of Dual Channel or extra GB of single channel DDR2 667?

Hi,

I have 1GB (1 x 1GB) of Corsair DDR2 667MHz memory in my system. This is not dual channel memory.

Would I be better off upgrading to G. Skill 2GB (2 x 1GB) Dual Channel DDR 800MHz memory and pulling the 667MHz stick, or dropping in another 2GB (2 x 1GB) Of single channel Corsair 667 for a total of 3GB? They sell for about the same price on New Egg.

just buy 2 x 1 gb of corsair 675 in dual channel kit, and then sell your old single channel stick on ebay or to somebody

Trying to run 3 DIMMs is usually a bad idea. Some boards are stable but, typically it will not be stable with 3 DIMMs and may not even boot.

Also if you used 3 sticks it would not be running in dual channle mode.
