From the reviews I've seen, even the best 1080 which is the Zotac 1080 amp extreme, isn't really a 4k card, You'll have to lower the graphic settings in demanding games if you want to achieve the 60fps mark. Examples: hitman, tomb raider, crysis, witcher 3,etc.

I think 2k is fine by now, I was on the same dilemma but 4k good quality displays are still very expensive and for everyday use a lot of people agree that 27" is too small for windows, most people told me to go 4k only if the display was at least 34" but as I said, PRICES man, those insane prices -_-

Depends on how serious gamer you are. I have had both 4k 60hz and a 1080p 144hz. For me playing battlefield and other titles the 4k was one of the best gaming experiences i have had absolutly gorgeous...but i actually opted for 144hz because i play alot of csgo and twitch shooters where i prefered the fluid and smooth rather then 60hz

I know, I play alot of CSGO as well (1000+ hrs) , but i also play titles like BF and Elite: Dangerous, War Thunder, etc.

Its a tricky choice....

I say the 1440p144hz. 1440p is becoming a sweetspot for gaming. When you get 4K, you may need to turn down settings in games to manage 60fps (or in some particularly demanding or poorly optimized games, a playable framerate). You also get a slower refresh rate which will make games appear less smooth, and will be a noticable difference if you currently play on 144hz.
The choice is up to you.
1440p: Higher FPS, smoother gameplay (refresh rate), lower quality, less (but still a lot of) screen real estate, usually doesn't need scaling
4K: Lower FPS, less smooth gameplay, higher quality, more screen real estate, may need scaling depending on your monitor size
