$2,000 Capturing and Editing build: 1800X vs 7700K vs 6850K

I'm looking to spend around $2K on building a PC that will mostly be used for Capturing, Streaming, Content creation and Editing video. I'm at a loss for which parts to choose.

I'm not sure which CPU to choose now that AMD has the 1800X. And I do plan on running a GPU (either 1080 or 1080TI or dual GPUs if that is worth it), but I am not sure which choice is best. Will most of the load be handed to the GPU so I'm better off spending more budget on the GPU? And will losing PCI lanes cause me problems in the long run? And do I worry about onboard graphics on the CPU?

I need to put at least 1 capture card in the rig. I honestly don't care about the case aesthetic. I would like to have more than 1 capture card, but if that doesn't fit into the build cost, I can add one later. I would prefer PCI capture card. But I also need multiple USB 3.0 ports, an SD card reader. I would like to have USB C as well.

And I would want to run as much RAM as possible. Standard SSD over M.2 because it doesn't seem like performance/$ is worth it yet.

Does anyone have some suggestions?

@The OriginalRalph, sorry, I thought you were the other guy who said: " want to build a similar pc with the option to upgrade another gpu a year later. I will probably wait for the Asus Strix 1080ti.
It uses 2.5 slots. Which mainboard do I have to get to support possible two of those cards?"

The Keyboard arrived today. The mouse - Logitech G900 - arrived a couple days ago.

HONESTLY: not impressed with them. The mouse doesn't seem like anything special (except being ambidextrous) and I kinda wish there were more programmable buttons like on the G600 MMO gaming mouse. ... Though likely if I am editing I will be using the MX Master and program hotkeys to keyboard and midi controller... So I guess it's there for when/if I need to game with precision.

The keyboard requires TWO USB ports!? Crazy. I guess that must be all the RGB lighting is has to power. I'm sure I can use a hub if needed, but all the more reason to get a motherboard with additional USB ports. Seems super plastic though and even though it has the cherry switches they don't feel as expensive as they are... But I haven't used it in action or become accustomed to it, so maybe I will like it after some time using it. ... the 2 USB plugs is weirding me out though. ... and I hate cables and wires.

I'm still in a holding pattern to buy everything else... it seems like prices are dropping, so the longer I wait the better off I may be. I want to get started with the build, but if the TIs are coming relatively soon I may just wait to scoop it all at once.

I'll check back in before I make the final purchases once I hear the 1080TIs are available unless something else comes up first.

Thanks!!

It doesn't actually need two USB ports to run, the second USB port is for a USB passthrough which goes through the side of the keyboard for convenient access.
You can tuck it in, you don't need to use it if you don't want to.
Mechanical boards take anywhere from 2 weeks to a month to get used to, coming from a membrane board.
Very strange to get used to, and you won't adjust right away, but after you make the switch you won't want to go back when comparing the two. :)

Ha! I forgot about the USB on the side. Sweet. So just plug wired mouse or Wireless Mouse dongle into that port on the side of the keyboard and plug both ends into ports and I won't have to go behind to change mice.

My buddy said the same thing about getting used to it... I used to use mechanical keyboards way back in the day, but I've pretty much almost exclusively been on laptops for the past decade.

It seems like Ryzen is the way to go for streaming encoding.

How we looking on the 1080TIs?

I made my deposit for next year's Blackhawks season tickets today, so i am pretty much ready to pull the trigger and buy everything for the build... Or maybe buy everything with another GPU so i can get started and swap the TI in once quality cards are available.

Do you have any changes or part swaps? Definitely going with the better Motherboard for ports.
I may even install a 2nd SSD just for using as cache for Video editing.

Copied this from Chugalug_ and changed it a bit.
X370 and D14 for better overclocking.
1080, because 1080Ti was too expensive to fit the 2k, unless the SSD was cut in half.
This CPU overclocks good, so you'd want to overclock it.

I also didn't read the thread, so, excuse me if someone already said this.

Also, I don't know if you copied the latest build. Or if you copied the original build before we updated it.
The latest build we were going w was on page 2.

I had upgraded to X motherboard for SLI support and extra USB type A ports.

What are your thoughts on going with G Skill Flare RAM instead of what was listed?

Solution
Ok. Yeah I did see a 16GB 2x8GB kit on newegg at DDR4-3200, but could not find 32 or 64GB kits.

Should I go ahead an purchase everything now? Do you think better 1080TI options are yet to come?

Also, for those who thought building a 4K editing rig for this $2,000-2400 budget was not possible, you may want to check out Dom's video where he built a 4K editing rig for half of the budget: $1,000. It's definitely doable.

Nah, the EVGA cards are fantastic, and their warranty and support is next to none, after my first EVGA card this generation I can't go back to any other brand simply due to how helpful and considerate of their customers they are.
At that price additionally, you're unlikely to find a card that'll compete with the SC.

I am doing my ordering today because I thought there might have been an Easter sale.

I'm having some issues with some parts being out of stock, but I am just trying to switch to other vendors. I am buying nothing from PC Outlet because I can get the same parts thru Amazon Prime and SuperBiiz for less than those parts are at PC Outlet with their shipping costs.

I decided to get a 650W Powersupply instead of 550. Same supply, just 650 instead of 550. That won't cause any issues will it? https://www.superbiiz.com/desc.php?name=PS-BWG650M

I am als0 buying this Capture Card https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1251516-REG/elgato_systems_10025025_game_capture_hd60_pro.html

Thanks for your help!!
