2k hive file

what is the hive file and how can it be missing/ in use/ or not accesible during boot time?just installed the os on my new pc... 98 used to work just fine...

hives are saved registry, seccurity, system stuff saved at shutdown!

Got a caching HD controller? ABIT mobo with onboard HPT66 controller? Shut off power management so HD totally completes before automatic power down!!!

Search previous posts <6mo for "hive"...

Its a known problem and fixable! Probably have to reinstall however!
