2k is not good to play as?

is it bad to play 2k? am i really how do i express what i am trying to ask

am i really doing something wrong playing 2k in 2021 because my hardware cant do more than that or should i just wait till i get better hardware and then play my games in 4k instead of finishing them nowon 2k

also how many people are actually playing 4k ...

i am not sure how to express my issue

i want to know what the marked says i dont want to really ruine my games for myself if you know what i mean if a game is made to play 4k i am not oging to play at 1080p you know
why undercut mysself of an experience when i can wait... but i want ot know where 2k today lies in quality of gaming is it really viable or is it like out and a waste to start playing 2k .. should i wait and buy new computer than play todays games such as far cry 5 or is 2k seen s a great way to play games still

is it possible to understand what i am tring to say? i am nto sure

"the market" wants you to buy new hardware. That's all.

Did someone trash talk you for this? Ignore them.

2k/1080p is pretty fine - Unless your games happened to involve reading fine-prints as a major part of gameplay. A vast majority of less well-off gamers had to do with less than that for an acceptable framerate.

The only important thing is your own enjoyment.

okay so we are getting somewhere

so yeah 4k is very expensive does that mean that 2k still is a good way to play games and are not most people playing 4k?

so in a way i am asking what is our standard .. marked standard is it 4k and if not is 2k still a popular and good way to play games without feeling you are cheating yourself by finishing your games on 2k?

the issue with pc is tha tthere is no standard that is clear.... but every era had its standard what is our standard now and is 2k a waste for my 2020 2019 games?

There is no "standard".

What your hardware can do, what looks good to you.
Thats all that matters.

You are the only one that can influence you "feeling left out".

exactly i just dont want to play x game with 2k .. wheni could wait to play it later on 4k...

does that make sense?

is there no site that has written what resolution most people play at today?
Steam:

2018:
"Barely 6% of Steam users play above 1080p"
https://www.pcgamesn.com/steam-hardware-survey-resolution

2019:
"4K Gaming Used By Tiny Percent Of Players According to Steam "
https://techraptor.net/gaming/news/4k-gaming-still-in-minority-according-to-steam

2020:
"Over 65% Of PC Users Are Still Playing In 1080P According To Steam Survey"
https://lordsofgaming.net/2020/09/o...l-playing-in-1080p-according-to-steam-survey/

July 2021:
"Primary Display Resolution - 1920 x 1080 67.20%"
https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/Steam-Hardware-Software-Survey-Welcome-to-Steam

--------------------------------------------
Bottom line - You're only missing out if YOU think you're missing out.

is the steam survey actually indicator though? .. i mean how did htey even get the tests .. does it have an automatic info gatherer?
"Steam conducts a monthly survey to collect data about what kinds of computer hardware and software our customers are using. Participation in the survey is optional, and anonymous. The information gathered is incredibly helpful to us as we make decisions about what kinds of technology investments to make and products to offer. "

I would think that the people who are on 4k are overrepresented vs actual numbers, because someone with that much hardware wants to brag more than someone with average hardware. More likely to reply to that survey.

2k Is still a BIG resolution.
Most people still play at 1080p.
You can still have the same fun playing at 4k as with 2k...

In simple terms
It depends on your monitor at this point. If it's native resolution is 4k then 2k will look blurry. If it's native resolution is 1080p then 2k will look blurry but the jagged edges will not be so much.

720p is fine, you game on what settings you can or what you want to. Not many people play at 4K it’s taxing and not worth the extra money

This is like not drinking something in the desert because you want to wait to get a better brand of water later. Or not driving to work because you want to wait to buy a car with leather seats and a V8. Just do what you do with what you have as was said already. Don't follow what other people do, do what you can or want to do. Do you ask what others favorite color is before you buy a shirt for yourself or do you pick what you like yourself? There is no right or wrong thing you can do here.

Most people can't afford the hardware to game in 4K . 1440p as of now is still the sweet spot. 1080p if your on a lower budget and that is still fine nothing wrong with it.

About the only person that would think anything is if they were using your 1440p setup and were accustomed to their 4K setup.

Same with me since I switched to 1440p to me 1080p looks crappy but if all I ever played was in 1080p that would look normal to me.

i've been gaming at 2k for the last several years, i upgraded to 4k this year. 4k gaming is now and with the next gen gpu's out next year, high fps 4k gaming will be the norm if you have the money to buy the hardware.

Right if you have the money or can even get a video card.

Since your gaming in 4K then 1440p/ 1080p looks like crap to you but if you had never switched to 4K it would look normal.
