Hi all,

I am not sure if this is the right group but I will give it a try.

Can someone please tell me if the following Intel Xeon Processor will
work with my system (PowerEdge 1600SC) as a second processor (Service
Tag: JKGQF61) ?

Intel Part Nr: BX80532KE2800D
sSpec: SL72F

If YES, do I need to buy anything extra?

Thanks

Intel Part Nr: BX80532KE2800D sSpec: SL72F is a Boxed(retail) product
that includes Heatsink and Fun. It has the same Speed and Cache with
the one I have already installed (the one that came with the system).
The difference is the sSpec and Stepping. So I am not sure if it is
going to work. Any input on that?

Also I am not sure if it is going to fit. I hear that the Heatsink clip
is different on the 1600SC motherboard (but I am not sure). Any idea?

Lastly where can I get the VRM= (Voltage Regulator Module) (I have no
idea what that is)? Does it have to be specific for the model (CPU?
Motherboard? 1600SC?)

Thanks for your reply.

the CPU needs to be a matched pair if your gonna run two cpus also you will
need a VRM= (Voltage Regulator Module) if you add a 2nd cpu and also a 2nd
heatsink and fan

not quite sure if the VRMs are machine specific perhaps one of the other
guys can input on that , if the stepping on the cpus is different then they
wont work
